HiringCafe+ — Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the HiringCafe+ browser extension ("the extension", "we") handles your information. HiringCafe+ is published by HiringCafe and enhances the job-search experience on hiring.cafe. The extension runs in your own browser.

Information the extension handles

1. Stored on your device. Your settings, filters, applied/hidden marks, private notes, "seen" history, and a cache of cross-check and rating results are saved in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us.

2. Your HiringCafe account (authentication information). When you use the tracking features, the extension reads your existing HiringCafe (Google Firebase) login token from your current session and uses it to read and write your own saved, applied, and hidden jobs. This token is sent only to Google (Firebase) and to hiring.cafe, over HTTPS, to act on your own account. It is never sent to us or to any third party, and is never included in any data you export.

3. Cross-check and rating lookups (website content). To show whether a job also appears on LinkedIn or Indeed and to display company ratings, the extension sends the job's title, company, and location as search queries to LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and Levels.fyi. These lookups run in your own browser. The extension may briefly open background helper tabs to Indeed or Glassdoor to complete a lookup; these close automatically shortly afterward.

What we do not do

• We do not operate any server that receives your data, and we run no analytics or telemetry.
• We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.
• We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending.
• We do not use your data for any purpose other than the extension's single purpose above.

Third-party services

Requests the extension makes on your behalf go to hiring.cafe, LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, and Google Firebase (for your own HiringCafe account). Your interactions with those services are governed by their own privacy policies. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, their practices.

Permissions

• storage — save your settings, marks, notes, and caches locally.
• alarms — schedule optional saved-search checks and clean up temporary helper tabs.
• notifications — show a desktop alert for searches you choose to watch.
• Host access to hiring.cafe, LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, and Google Firebase/securetoken — to add the extension's features and sync your own account, as described above.

Data retention and your controls

Locally stored data remains in your browser until you remove it. You can clear the extension's cache and reset "seen" history from the extension popup, and removing all local data is as simple as uninstalling the extension. Changes you sync to your HiringCafe account are managed through your HiringCafe account.

Children

The extension is a general-purpose job-search tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
